Georgina Longman M.Ost

My interest in osteopathy stems from my love of dancing from a young age. I enjoyed exploring the body’s creative ability to perform dynamic rhythmic movements in fluid, coordinated sequences. My sights were set on a career in dance until I discovered osteopathy.

I first encountered osteopathy when my mother suffered a sports injury. Observing her consultations opened my eyes to a profession which has a multidimensional focus on enhancing overall health and wellbeing. I graduated from Swansea University with a Masters of Osteopathy degree (M.Ost) before moving to Canada. There I was able to work as an Osteopath whilst embracing the opportunity to explore a different part of the world and its culture. It was an amazing experience but I am excited to be back in the West Midlands with family, friends and winters that do not drop to –40 degrees!

I have developed a passion for empowering my patients in their own recovery. In my appointments I not only aim to reduce your discomfort but I also work to understand what caused your symptoms. With this knowledge I can then focus on restoring optimal function, pain free movement and facilitate your return to the activities you enjoy. The patient-centred philosophy, integral to osteopathic practice, brings me a sense of fulfilment as I tailor my treatments to be of most benefit to the individual.

During appointments I always share my clinical findings and communicate these in relation to the relevant anatomy and your presenting symptoms. I understand the importance of educating my patients so they can understand their symptoms and have an active role in their own recovery. Maintaining this high standard of patient care can also help eradicate incorrect societal assumptions which may inflict additional stress to daily life.
